Nantahala River Rafting in December - Winter Rafting at its Best

Nantahala River Rafting in December is an activity and vacation that can be very interesting.  If you are interested in Winter rafting then heading out to the mountains of North Carolina and rafting on the Nantahala might be the treat for you.  The water in the Nantahala River is approximately 48 degrees year round so you can imagine how that would feel when the temperature outside is that cold or colder.

If you are adventurous and want to find out just how cold the river is then you might want to make sure to put on a wetsuit.  One of the main reasons that the water temperature is bearable in the summer is the fact that the air temperature is usually in the 80s or 90s.  With the air temperature likely to be below 50 degrees then you are going to find no way to warm your body up other than your body heat.

The Nantahala River is currently running very high in December because of all the rain the gorge area has had over the last few months.  If you want a very exciting Nantahala River run then it would be a good idea to get out there in December and enjoy some Winter whitewater rafting! Don’t forget to find a place to stay while out there and to make it a true outdoor trip make sure to bring your tent along so you can do some camping.

If you would like more information about rafting and camping around the Nantahala Gorge check out Brookside Campground and Rafting.  Make sure to call Brookside at 1-800-848-7238 and use the promotional code JRW for a discount.
